Barbara Cain, LMSW, ACSW
Barb joined Lakeview Counseling in 1997. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan. Prior to moving to Traverse City, Barb worked extensively with youth and family prevention programs including Outward Bound, Big Brothers Big Sisters and juvenile diversion programs.
Barb specializes in working with adolescents, adults and families. She works with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, learning challenges, relationship issues, self-harm and oppositional behaviors.

If you have experienced trauma or suffer from anxiety, depression, chronic pain or a negative self-image, Barb is fully trained in two different trauma therapies.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. Part of the therapy includes alternating eye movements, sounds or taps. For more information, please refer to the official EMDR website at emdria.org.
Brainspotting accesses the brain-body’s innate self-scanning and self-healing capacities in the context of neurobiologically and relationally attuned clinical relationships. For more information, please refer to brainspotting.com.

Jill Kimball, LMSW, ACSW
Jill Kimball has a strong record of working in human services settings before she began working as a full-time therapist in 1994, later joining Lakeview Counseling in 2000. Her prior experiences include working with the YMCA, juvenile court in Seattle, Veterans Administration Medical Center hospital, Community Mental Health Therapist and after-hours Child and Family Crisis Worker.
Jill earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and a graduate degree from Florida State University. She returned to Northern Michigan to work with children, adults and families who have experienced trauma and loss or suffer from emotional, psychiatric, and behavioral problems.

Jill’s practice focuses on children and families, including step, adoptive, and families with children with attachment issues or special needs. She works with adults and children dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and loss as well as active duty and retired military personnel. In 2017 Jill completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR training.

Darcy Britten, LPC, NCC
Darcy Britten joined Lakeview Counseling as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She works, with her clients, to bring about the change that improves their lives and relationship.
Darcy’s practice focuses on providing services for adolescents and adults. She has expertise in the following areas:

Darcy is an Internationally Certified Solution-Focused Brief Therapist (SFBT). SFBT is useful to help people make difficult decisions, manage traumatic circumstances, and experience effective treatment for anxiety and depression. Clients learn to focus on the construction of solutions, which leads to the next steps toward recovery and healing.
In addition, Darcy is an Internationally Certified Brainspotting therapist. Brainspotting is a brain-based psychotherapy that helps to access unprocessed trauma and stress in the subcortical brain. Brainspotting can help to reduce and eliminate the impact of unresolved trauma, negative beliefs and emotional distress.
Darcy also has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Darcy earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Counseling Education at Western Michigan University. Her experience includes working on the behavioral health staff at Munson Medical Center, being an intake specialist at Benzie County Community Mental Health and providing outpatient and crisis services at Northern Lakes Community Mental Health. Darcy has been in private practice with Lakeview Counseling for nine years.

Janet Hughes, LMSW, ACSW
Janet Hughes brings over 30 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker to Lakeview Counseling. She has extensive experience working with depression, anxiety and life transitions.
Her practice primarily focuses on adults. Janet has a special interest in helping the college student navigate the transition while learning skills to cope with the stress and anxiety. Life has many transitions and often includes loss. Janet is an active participant in the counseling session and helps her clients find their path back to joy.

Kaitlyn Grangood
Kaitlyn Grangood has clinical experience working with individuals and families in clinical practice settings, as well as rehabilitation, educational, and outdoor experiential settings. She has several years of experience providing individual therapy, couples therapy and group therapy, and has experience facilitating adjustment-related support groups, educational classes and community-based therapy sessions.

Jad Tompkins, LMSW, CCTP

Jad has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Georgia and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW) in Michigan and a Member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). He has expertise in applying Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Strengths-Based Coaching. He is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with specialized training in Brainspotting, a compassionate, neuroscience-based technique used to speed-up the healing process.
Jad strives to apply his experience, learning, compassion, and curiosity to counsel his clients to heal from emotional pain, achieve meaningful goals, and improve relationships. Ultimately, he empowers individuals to visualize and live their own unique version of a good life.

Christina Lovik, LMSW, ACSW
Christina Lovik has been working with individuals, children, couples, and families in various settings for 15 years, primarily mental health, child welfare/family court, and healthcare. Christina holds a Master Degree in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University and is a fully licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Michigan. She is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), as well as the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).
Christina has the training and experience to work with families, couples, children, adolescents and adults who are seeking empathetic guidance and support through major life transitions, loss, relationship conflict, emotional struggles, troubling thoughts, and trauma in a safe, non-judgmental, confidential setting. Her therapy approach is person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed. She commonly utilizes play therapy with children and families, as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples.

Robin Heiges, LMSW
Robin comes to us with 20 years of experience working in the mental health and wellness field, 16 of which were in a clinical private practice setting. She has extensive experience treating children, adolescents and families with a wide range of clinical needs including, but not limited to PTSD, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Autism, Eating Disorders, Selective Mutism and Tourette’s Syndrome/Tic Disorders.
With the onset of Covid and recognition of the impact it has had on mental health, Robin will now be offering her clinical skills to adults. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Training, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction & EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). She is recently trained and excited to be offering the addition of Brainspotting Therapy as well.

Lena Trolz, LMSW
Lena brings over 26 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker to Lakeview Counseling. She has worked in the infant mental health setting, providing outpatient and home-based interventions, along with working with individuals and families in the mental health and healthcare setting.
Lena provides an empathetic, non-judgmental approach in working with children, adolescents and adults. She has experience and training in infant mental health, loss, grief, relationship conflict, trauma, adjusting to life transitions, anxiety and depression. Her approach in her work is strength-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed.
Lena trained in Brainspotting to have additional modes/strategies to help people in their journey to heal.

Alexis Manning, LCSW
Alexis is new to Lakeview Counseling and excited to start her practice as a therapist. From a young age, Alexis has been passionate about supporting adolescents and their families through the toughest parts of growing up. After getting her Master of Social Work degree at Ferris State University, Alexis worked in healthcare for several years, in case management and hospice care; from this experience, she gained knowledge in working with families dealing with the death and dying process, dementia care, and problems that come along with that journey.
At Lakeview, Alexis looks forward to working with adolescents, adults, and older adults as they navigate living with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other adjustment or trauma-related disorders. Alexis is comfortable walking through the uncomfortable with her clients, and allows for a safe, supportive environment to allow ourselves to grow and love ourselves. She utilizes evidence-based, strengths-based practice throughout all sessions, with a focus on mindfulness and trauma-informed therapeutic modalities.
Alexis is a proudly affirming therapist for those who are neurodivergent and part of the LGBTQ+ community. All backgrounds, identities, and communities are welcome in her office.

Kelly Ryan, APRN- CNP, PMHNP-BC
Kelly Ryan is now providing psychiatric/mental health medication management at Lakeview Counseling.
Kelly takes a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of adults in the outpatient setting. She examines root causes, co-existing medical conditions and medications, as well as each individual’s social, emotional and environmental circumstances, to develop an individualized psychiatric-mental health treatment approach that considers the whole person. She is dual board certified in Psychiatric Mental Health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and Family Practice by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She completed her nursing degrees through the University of Cincinnati, where she has earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters of Nursing focused on Family Practice and a Post-Masters Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. She also obtained her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University and her undergraduate degree from New York University, where she majored in Psychology.
